A STORY OF HOPE IN THE MIDST OF TRIALS

Early Life and Loss

Childhood grief

I was born in Gem, Yala in Siaya County, Kenya. As the second born in a family of four, our family was completed with a beloved younger sister. My early years were marked by profound loss as I lost both my parents between 2001 and 2005. Despite these challenging beginnings, I found hope and support at the Amani Village of Hope orphanage, which became my new home in August 2008.

Finding Spiritual Guidance

Mentorship

At Amani Village of Hope, I met Chris Saunders, a man who would become my spiritual father. Chris had been supporting the orphanage for years, and our paths crossed during one of his visits in 2008. That became the start of our 17 year relationship. Chris led me and other friends to Christ, a gift I cherish deeply. As it says in Psalm 68:5, "A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling."

Education Journey

Overcoming challenges

During my time at the orphanage, I attended Mindhine Primary School, where I completed my primary education. Despite excelling in my exams, I faced challenges that prevented me from continuing immediately. However, I persevered and eventually moved to Nairobi, where I joined Jomo Kenyatta University to study clinical medicine. I graduated in June 2023 and have completed my internship in Kisumu Teaching and Referral Hospital. Proverbs 16:3 reminds us, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans."

Gratitude and Future Aspirations

A lifeline through Heartbeat Africa

I am deeply grateful to Heartbeat Africa and Chris Saunders for their unwavering support. The love and care from Amani Village of Hope and everyone who has been part of my journey has been invaluable. As I look to the future, I am excited to see what God has in store for me.
Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," encapsulates my belief in the limitless possibilities ahead.

Reflection and Legacy

A Christ-centred life

As I continue on this path, I hope to be remembered as a true reflection of Christ, embodying his love and grace in all I do. My journey has taught me the power of faith, resilience, and the impact of community support. To everyone who has been part of my story, I send my heartfelt love and gratitude.
